Miloslav Gajdoš is one of Europe’s most active and inventive bassist-composers. He was born in northern Moravia in 1948 and initially learned violin before transferring to the double bass, studying with Alois Kříž, Jirí Bortlícek and Ludwig Streicher.

An Old Song by Miloslav Gajdos is in a traditional and tonal style, emphasising the sonorous and cantabile qualities of the double bass. The Chorale-style idiom and slow moving chords adds an old world charm and style to a work which is beautifully sincere and effective in performance.

This edition includes a score parts for two versions – the original key (B minor) and a revised edition (G minor).

An Old Song, originally for Double Bass Quartet, is also available for cello, bassoon or trombone quartet.
