Kay Charlton is a composer and educator alongside playing the trumpet with Bollywood Brass Band. She is an experienced workshop leader and brass teacher, specialising in whole class ensemble tuition (WCET), and has also taught KS2 curriculum music. Her book ‘How to Teach Whole-Class Instrumental Lessons: 50 inspiring ideas’ is published by Collins Music.

Kay has written resources for LSO Discovery and LPO Creative Classrooms and has composed examination pieces for Trinity College London. She has brass/wind tutor books published by Warwick Music, Kevin Mayhew Flavour Fusions, and Clifton Edition Bollywood Blast! and her book of WCET repertoire and backing tracks, Are You Ready?, has been converted into a series of online tutorials by MusicGurus. She has delivered workshops based on this repertoire and her aural approach at the Music Education Expo and at CPD sessions for Music Hubs.

Kay completed an MA in Music Education at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2018, and was awarded the Director’s Prize for Music Education.
