Pošta 100 was launched …in 2019 to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Czech virtuoso bassist František Pošta (1919-2019), the leading Czech bassist of his generation, with the aim of commissioning one hundred new pieces for unaccompanied double bass. P. Kellach Waddle decided to write fourteen new pieces for the project, based on themes from works by Antonín Dvořák, which are published in two volumes. Each short piece offers musical and technical challenges in equal measure also exploring the sonorous, adventurous and dramatic possibilities of the double bass. None outstay their welcome and these engaging and accessible modern solos offer much to performers and audiences alike.
