This piece goes through a journey through the limits of the instrument, just like Arquitecturas de espejos not only through the extreme registers, but also …through the manipulation and distortion of sound through new instrumental techniques (stifled tones, shadows between air, noise and pitches, repetitions, complex hearing perceptions, etc.). This work has various connections with Arquitecturas de espejos, and I realize why the accordion remains very close to me in my own music. Composed in 2004, Arquitecturas del silencio was premiered the following year by Esteban Algora in Cagliari. The work is also dedicated to him. (José M. Sánchez-Verdú)
