This collection of twelve engaging pieces offers study and concert, Repertoire and is playable by bassists of different abilities. Bowings have been added, which the …players can easily adapt or change, and many pieces have few or no dynamic markings allowing each ensemble to create their own unique performance. The musical and technical challenges are, on the whole, straightforward and accessible to progressing bassists of all ages.
Bass Clef Trios Book 1 features music from the 16th to the 20th-century, in a range of inventive styles and idioms which should offer something of interest for performers and audiences alike. A number of canons have been included, with each bassist playing the same part, and all the arrangements have been created to work with three players or larger forces.
The trios can be used to develop ensemble skills, possibly useful as sight-
reading, or just for enjoyment and the possibilities are endless. Sections can be repeated to create a longer piece and music from the 16th and 17th-
centuries could be played with or without vibrato to create a wealth of contrasts and colours.
Please note: Bass Clef Trios Book 1 is in score format alongside three separate parts for ‘Air Populaire: Variations on Au Clair de la Lune’ by V.F. Verrimst.
