First Finger, First Position String Orchestra contains eight innovative pieces for string players in their first year, using first position (only first finger) and open …strings. Parts Violin I – copious use of first finger.
Violin II – mostly open strings and only a little first finger.
Viola – usually doubles either Violin II or Cello; if not, it’s ommision does not detract from the overall performance.
Cello – copious use of first finger.
