The Gretsch Country Gentleman is one of the most popular guitars they produce. Made famous by George Harrison and Chet Atkins who both have had …amazing careers making the most of the signature Gretsch tone.
It’s a beautiful piece of art that not only looks great, but sounds great too.
Expect a big guitar with an even bigger tone with rich semi hollow undertones with the stability of a solid body guitar.
Hollow-Body
The Country Gent is a hollow-body without F-holes, to prevent feedback when used at high levels. The F-holes are painted onto the guitar to give it that authentic hollow-body look but without the screeching when you have the guitar turned up loud!
Double Mute
The double-mute system on the Country Gent is a really unique feature not often found these days. Once both toggles (surrounded by the red ring) are pushed forward, they will activate foam mutes that emulate the sound of resting your picking hand on the strings. It’s almost like a cheat sheet for Country-pluckers, because you can spend more time worrying about your hybrid picking, and less time thinking about the muting!
You can activate the mutes separately too. The top one will mute your 3 lowest strings and the bottom button will mute you 3 high strings.

A pair of TV Jones Classic pickups responds to every pick stroke or strum with refined, articulate tone. Traditional Gretsch controls-including per-pickup volume controls, master volume, a three-way tone switch-allow you to create countless tonal variations for a personalized tone. The new Gretsch “Squeezebox” paper-in-oil capacitors deliver silky vintage high end. The standard “U”-shaped maple neck bears a 12″-radius ebony fingerboard with 22 frets and zero-fret for a memorable playing experience that works with any style. The sealed body with simulated F Holes minimizes feedback while providing for authentically vintage tone. A pinned “rocking” bar bridge reacts in concert with the Bigsby B6GVT vibrato tailpiece for stable tuning while the bone nut lets the strings slide freely without binding in the slots.
