Description

Martin Gatt is undoubtedly one of the finest arrangers for wind ensemble. Here he turns his attention to Mahler’s stunningly beautiful Piano Quartet, arranging this wonderful work for Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon & Piano. The Piano Quartet in A minor, or more exactly the quartet movement for piano, violin, viola and cello in A Minor, by Gustav Mahler, is the first movement of an abandoned piano quartet dating from 1876 and the composer’s sole surviving piece of instrumental chamber music. The first edition of Martin Gatt’s arrangement of this work was published by Phylloscopus Publications in 2018.
