Monolog (1977) is a work by the Romanian-German composer Adriana Hölszky for a female voice performer and timpani.  The piece is a “scenic concert piece” that blends vocal experimentation with theatrical performance.

The score includes specific stage directions: a timpani covered by a tablecloth with a newspaper on it, and a chair. The performer enters, sees the newspaper, sits, and begins browsing it with a bored expression as the performance commences.

The work is dedicated to Dietburg Spohr, a soprano known for her work with the Ensemble Belcanto.
