Innenräume (Inner Spaces) is a contemporary composition for solo organ by German composer Isabel Mundry, published in 2005.

“After spending recent years exploring the placement of sounds within space, this music turns its attention to the inner space of sounds themselves.

In three sketch‑like compositions, it probes how far a single sound can be fanned out—what its internal constitution is, and where its outer limits lie.

Harmony and time intertwine almost involuntarily here, bound up with the question of how far such a sonic unfolding can still be perceived as a unity, and at what point it becomes a detached entity.

What is imagined, then, is less the interior of a building, clearly bounded by walls, and more those phenomena that can arise anywhere when one pauses and fixes an observation that, from another perspective, would simply blur away unnoticed.”
