Description

The Piano Trio in B major is one of Johannes Brahms’ early works. It was created in 1853/54. The first edition was published at the end of 1854 by Breitkopf & Härtel in Leipzig. Many years later, Brahms subjected the work to a fundamental revision, significantly reducing the length of the first, second and fourth movements, and Clara Schumann reported that he had written the work again. The first printing of the second version was published by N. Simrock in Berlin in 1891. In the complete edition of Johannes Brahms: Complete Works, ed. by the ‘Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde’ Vienna, both versions were published equally in the volume Piano Trios.
