Description

Reflections after Debussy was composed in 2002 and is a work of evocative colours, contrasts and textures. It utilises the orchestral register of the double bass, requiring more than simply technical prowess for a successful performance.
Aimed at the intermediate bassist, there is scope to explore a wealth of colours and sonorities to demonstrate the many possibilities of the solo double bass. Reflections after Debussy was commissioned by David Heyes for Double Bass 2000 and was premiered by Mette Hanskov on 10 April 2005 at Bass-Fest 2005 (Dorset, UK), as part of an 80th birthday concert for Peter Lamb.
