A supportive and colourful piano accompaniment contrasts a lyrical and cantabile solo double bass, in a mildly contemporary idiom, and there are opportunities to demonstrate both musical and technical skills within a short time span.

The edition includes two double bass parts, version 1 and 2, which are completely the same apart from the final three bars of the piece.
Teppo Hauta-aho (b.1941) is the most prolific composer in the history of the double bass and has composed for every ability level, from the beginner to the virtuoso. His music is evocative and atmospheric, shaped by jazz and contemporary styles, and the influence of the dramatic and bleak landscapes and vistas of his native Finland are captured throughout his engaging and accessible music.
