This Trio was submitted to the Society of Women Musicians for their annual competition in 1966 and won the W. W. Cobbett Prize for Women Composers. …The competition called for music featuring three wind instruments — Mary chose the unusual combination of Oboe, Clarinet and Horn. The piece is in four movements and is both interesting and rewarding to play. It was first performed in June 1967 and subsequently broadcast by the Canzona Ensemble.
A first edition was published in 1992 by Phylloscopus Publications. The Society of Women Musicians as such has now ceased to exist, but during its active life, it served a valuable purpose.
Score and Parts: Oboe, B flat Clarinet & Horn. Score and Parts. Mary Chandler: 1911-1996.
