A selection of twenty important studies by the Harpers (father and son), the dominant force of 19th century trumpet playing in the UK.

These studies, that have more of a focus on the lower register than that of contemporaries such as Arban, have been adapted for the modern instrument by the renowned player and teacher Paul Nevins.

The two Thomas Harpers, father and son, dominated trumpet playing in the United Kingdom for most of the nineteenth century.

Harper Senior (Snr) was born in Worcester in 1786 and joined the East India Band in London as a boy, later establishing himself as the pre-eminent trumpeter in the capital performing with the Philharmonic Society and in leading theatres.
