Originally published by Phylloscopus Publications, this edition has been prepared by C.M.M. Nex and F.H. Nex from the manuscript held in the …Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. As often happens with such instrumentation, the strings play supporting parts, allowing the bassoon the solo role in all but the ritornellos. A separate version for bassoon and piano has also been prepared (C225), so that bassoonists may enjoy these 19th century variations even when their string-playing colleagues are unwilling to humour them.
