Reeds & Strings

With some of our team having decades of experience selling these items, we’re going to make a few recommendations for items we’ve either found to sell well, or that we prefer to use ourselves.

The thing with Strings and Reeds is that they are very much a personal choice. What you use will depend very much not only on what type of instrument you play but also what you play on it and your own personality and physique. You will also need to consider the environment in which you’re playing. Studio work may (probably will) require a different item to one you would use for practise, a stage performance or orchestral recital, taking into consideration if you’re the soloist or if there’s a few others like you.

To this end we’ve created a short guide to what strings or reeds to use in various situations and we’ve categorised them as Premium, Standard or Basic. Cost may be a factor here but remember you also tend to get what you pay for. A cheap set of strings is likely to need to be replaced more often than a dearer set.

Sometimes a brand gets a certain reputation. We’ve taken that into consideration in our selection if items.
