Mary Chandler has a long and varied list of compositions to her credit, usually commissioned and most of them publicly performed or broadcast. In 1989, the …Gloucester-based Oboe Workshop Trio celebrated its tenth anniversary and it was for those players that Mary wrote the Trio for Two Oboes and Cor Anglais. It was performed at the Three Choirs Festival in Gloucester in 1989. The music is a reworking of three pieces composed in 1985 and now published as part of the Serenade for Flute Ensemble. Mary made significant changes, resulting in a fresh and characteristic work, reflecting Mary’s own experience as an oboist. This challenging and appealing Trio, with its jaunty outer movements and serene slow movement, was originally published by Phylloscopus Publications in 1998.
