Annibale Mengoli (1851-1895) was born in Bologna (Italy) and taught in Turin before moving to the Liceo Musicale Rossini in Pesaro, where he taught until his death. His pupils included Italo Caimmi and Isaia Billé, who became two of the leading figures of the 20th-century Italian school of double bass. Mengoli’s studies for double bass remain at the heart of the advanced double bass study repertoire to the present day.
