Their use of percussion helped me to think of writing some of joyful Brazilian rhythms and the result was a piece somewhere between Bossa Nova and Samba. The work starts with an introduction which I will use as a coda, too. There are two main themes, firstly in a major key and then in a minor key, crisscrossed with 7/8 sections where I mixed the Samba and Bossa clave patterns. It´s a very lyrical piece built on a syncopated rhythm where I use the entire range of the instrument and contrast homophonic parts with accompanying melody parts.

I decided that the published edition would work better as a bass quartet and without percussion.

In February 2017 I created a new version for Double Bass, Octet for Petia Bagovska which was premiered on 15th March 2017 at the National Academy of Music in Sofia (Bulgaria).”
