Byzantinische Struktur

Composer: Holszky, Adriana
Instrumentation: Violin and Piano
Publisher: Breitkopf and Hartel

Description

The single-movement “Byzantine Structure”, composed in Bucharest in 1974, deals with the superimposition of two structural types, which arose from the literal quotation of a Byzantine psalmody. The long-winded, untempered, horizontal style that appears in the violin is complemented by signal-like chord interjections and later by ornamental figures. Some elements of these compositions were further developed in the work “Intarsia”. (Adriana Hölszky)
