Description
Weber’s Concertino in E flat Major Op 26 is a significant work in the clarinet repetoire. Written in just three days between March 29 and April 3 1911 for Heinrich Bäermann who learned the work over the next three days for a command performance attended by King Maximilian of Bavaria.
The Concertino showcases the instrument’s expressive and virtuosic potential and is a cornerstone of the clarinet repertoire. The piece is structured as a single movement, blending classical forms like the sonata and variations with a distinctly romantic, almost improvised character.
