James Rae (1957-) is one of Europe’s most published composers of educational wind music having over 250 publications to his credit. His music includes instrumental jazz study books, tutors, five musicals, transcriptions and many volumes of duets along with sonatinas and chamber works for all woodwinds and saxophones. Many of his publications are to be found on all the major wind examination syllabuses worldwide.
As a freelance clarinettist and saxophonist, he has worked professionally in nearly every possible musical situation from West End musicals to engagements with some of the country’s major orchestras.
James Rae lives in Carshalton Beeches in Surrey with his wife Sue. His interests outside of music are food, drink and anything at all to do with railways!
