Simon Hunt wrote: “The object of this collection is to introduce the player of moderate standard, to some of the beautiful melodies to be found in the ballet, operatic, symphonic and instrumental repertoire. Through the enjoyment of playing these melodies, it is hoped to foster a sense of phrasing and a natural development of the sound.
